Welcome to The Maker’s Journal

Hello.

This is Hiut’s new blog. We’re calling it The Maker’s Journal.

Hiut began in Cardigan. A town that once made jeans for the world. The factories closed. The skill nearly disappeared. And then we brought the craft back - one pair at a time. Every pair signed by the person who made it. Because artists always sign their work.

This journal is an extension of that idea.

Not marketing. Not noise. Just a place to share what we’re making, what we’re learning, and who we’re making it with.

2026 is our year of Discovery.

It’s the year we try new things.

The year we open the doors a bit wider.
The year we share more of the work.

It’s time to fly our flag a little higher - so the world takes notice.

Not by shouting.
By proving something simple: you can thrive by doing things the right way.

To do that properly, we’ll need your help.

Tell us what you love. Tell us what you’d change. Tell us what makes you shrug your shoulders and move on.

We’ve never had comments on the Hiut site before. This is new for us. But it felt like the right moment to open up the conversation.

So if something lands, say so.
If it doesn’t, say that too.

You’ll see:

  • Collaborations - with people we respect (and a few you might not expect).

  • Makers - the hands behind the jeans, and the craft that keeps getting better.

  • Process - the decisions, the details, the why.

  • Stories - the lives our jeans get to live, told through fades, photographs, and the people inside them.

  • Cardigan & West Wales - the town, the rhythm, the reality of making here.

We’ve got a lot planned for this year. Proper things. Things we’ve been quietly working on for a while.

And now we’ll bring you along.

If you wear Hiut, you’re already part of this story.
If you’re new here, welcome. Pull up a chair.

The Maker’s Journal starts now.
